Agenda approved 2. Minutes approved 3. Music 10LS GE Course Outline considered and committee decided to send it back for the following changes and clarifications: CSLO #1 Assessment Criteria: The speaking aspect of this learning outcome assessment criteria needs more amplification. It's unclear how speaking will be assessed: Since participation in discussions involves both listening and speaking, will each student be required to speak during the discussion, and how will that be assessed? CSLO #2: In the course level CSLO, the committee suggests adding religion, history, culture, etc. since we assume that these disciplines will be part of the lecture/discussion of any look at the arts through time. CSLO #3 Assessment Criteria: Needs to be strengthened: "discuss issues" is weak. Doesn't appear to be written as a critical/creative thinking criteria, which implies evaluating and analyzing problems, controversies, opposing points of view, etc. CSLO #4: We could not find any "ethics" in the course level CSLO as it is written; neither could we find it in the assessment criteria for this CSLO, or the sample assessment question. They all need to be revised to include ethical implications. CSLO #5: The CSLO, the Assessment Criteria and the sample question are fine as written, but we could find no course content to match it. If diverse music is to be assessed (Japan, India, etc), there must be non-western course content to match. S, please make diverse world views explicit in the content portion of the outline. One other non-GE thing: CC Chair Ken Alexander needs to confer with Kyle Chuah about the mode of instruction -- 3 lecture, 3 lab would imply 4 units in the Carnegie Unit System we follow, but it's listed as 3. Course will need to come back to the GE committee for another look before it is passed on to the Curriculum Committee. Cindy will notify Kyle. 4. Honors and assessment update: Cindy reported that the Honors Program is revising the first draft of program goals and outcomes. 5. We decided that we should tackle rewriting the GE philosophy next year. 6. We left back-burner issues on the back burner and adjourned until the last meeting of the semester: Thursday, May 11, 1:30-3 p.m. ,.>)*+ܹ̽h1h1h1CJOJQJaJh1h15CJOJQJaJh1h1CJaJh1h1;CJaJh1h1:CJaJ,-.mno b c 9 : 0 1 ( ) qrDE^ 1$7$8$H$^1$7$8$H$$a$+EXY*+^,1h/ =!"#$% <@< NormalCJ_HmH sH tH 8@8 Heading 1$@&>*8@8 Heading 2$@&5DAD Default Paragraph FontVi@V Table Normal :V 44 la (k@(No List 0>@0 Title$a$54B@4 Body Text5>*+ ,-.mnobc9:01()qrDEXY* - 000000000000000000000000000000000+ E+ + ^4f^|V^d - - B*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagscountry-region9*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsplace |- Lu- 33- RNS .8\w'~9\G2phrH9-%s0h88^8`OJPJQJo(n ^`OJQJo(o ^ `OJQJo( ^ `OJQJo( xx^x`OJQJo(o HH^H`OJQJo( ^`OJQJo( ^`OJQJo(o ^`OJQJo(h hh^h`OJQJo(h 88^8`OJQJo(oh ^`OJQJo(h ^ `OJQJo(h ^ `OJQJo(oh xx^x`OJQJo(h HH^H`OJQJo(h ^`OJQJo(oh ^`OJQJo(^`o(.^`.pLp^p`L.@ @ ^@ `.^`.L^`L.^`.^`.PLP^P`L.^`o(.^`.pLp^p`L.@ @ ^@ `.^`.L^`L.^`.^`.PLP^P`L.^`o(.^`.pLp^p`L.@ @ ^@ `.^`.L^`L.^`.^`.PLP^P`L.\w'RNS 9\G-%shr11- @4+ P@UnknownGz Times New Roman5Symbol3& z Arial3z Times;Wingdings?5 z Courier New"hɆɆ!LF^^A24d' ' ^2qHP)?12General Education CommitteeNYbarraInformation Technology Oh+'0 (4 T ` l xGeneral Education CommitteeNYbarraNormalInformation Technology2Microsoft Office Word@^в@s@ y7Y@ y7Y^՜.+,0 hp CCCCD (925) 229-1000' General Education Committee Title !"#%&'()*+.Root Entry FABY01TableUWordDocument.SummaryInformation(DocumentSummaryInformation8$CompObjq FMicrosoft Office Word Document MSWordDocWord.Document.89q
