Margaret Hertstein (Note-taker) Todays agenda approved. Minutes of December 11, 2008 were approved with a correction for item #5. GE Committee brief/Review and summary. Should the Ethical Inquiry and Ethnic/Multicultural study committees be resurrected? GE committee will invite faculty from these boxes to discuss recommendations that can be forwarded to the Academic Senate. Judy Banks and Danny Moriel have been invited to attend GE Meeting on March 12th. Ed Bolds will be invited to April 9th GE Meeting. Ideas will be discussed A plan should be put together to present to Academic Senate by end of semester to determine next steps for representation in the Ethnic/Multicultural and Ethnical Inquiry GE boxes. PHYS 15 Course approved with the following recommendations: Page 4: CSLO #C: You could state explicitly something about global and multicultural perspectives. Assessments CSLO C: In the short second paragraph where you state contrast multiple perspectives you could elaborate for issues in the U.S. For example: perspectives from global, multicultural, gender and different class groups. Page 6: the content list does not really reflect the CSLOs. It is just a list of Physics topics. It should include, for example, problem solving, critical thinking, global and multicultural perspectives, etc. Specific plans for March 2nd Staff Development: Volunteers from English department will present how they teach Reading in their courses. Each will give an example of something they do and an interactive project. Nancy and Alex will forward final plan to Ken soon. March 30th Volunteers from other disciplines will present how they teach Reading in their courses. After March 2nd meeting, plan will be developed and guidelines for presenters provided. Our assigned task is to have all the course outlines up-to-date by 2012. This will be a large undertaking to get done. GE feedback on program level assessment plans for departments teaching primarily GE courses: Look at all program reviews and give feedback. Are they on track or not on track? Design a template to report to programs feedback.
