CSU Teacher Training Programs Due to a shortage of teachers in the state, CSU is experimenting on a pilot program on a two-year bachelors degree and a teaching credential and student teaching to be completed in a one year time span. Transfer students would need to have an extra 30 units which would include units in: History of Western Civilization, Oral Communication, English 10S, Critical Thinking, Government, Biological Science and Math. We offer all of these classes at Ӱɴý currently. There are other courses needed which Ӱɴý does not offer at this time which include: World/Global Geography, Human Development and Geography, and Math for Elementary School Teachers. We would need to develop these courses in the future. Mark McGregor will follow up with Richard in this discussion. District Board Policy #4004 on Pre-requisites, Co-requisites and Advisories Curriculum Committee has been asked to review the proposal to change the old document which was derived from Title 5 for ease of understanding and reading. Three suggested recommendations for the Academic Senate might be: Stay with the no content difference concept and accept the new Board Policy. Accept the new Board Policy #4004 but keep the old model as a reference for faculty members. Research the differences (if any) between the old and the new models. If the model was changed in the Academic Senate vote, would the document need to go back to the state? Issues will be documented and given to Academic Senate. Continue COOR Discussion. Continued Discussion on our model COOR (Course Outline of Record) A summary page from Nancy Ybarra on determining the need for pre-/co-requisites to be included in our model COOR Due to time constraints, the committee will continue this discussion at their December 3 meeting. Planning for Flex Curriculum Development Workshop, Retreat? January 13 is the option flex day. It was suggested that the committee might want to provide a 2 or 3 hour workshop on curriculum development based on this semesters discussions. It was decided that no workshop flex proposal would be submitted at this time and that the workshop might be better presented at a department chair meeting. Determine Agenda for November 19 Meeting Course Outlines and Catalog Revisions Public Comments None. PAGE PAGE 1 \b;j k % * - D M d l !
