Alternate: Louie Giambattista. Absent: Kiran Kamath Guests: Nick Garcia Announcements & Public Comment None for today. Approval of todays Agenda- The agenda was approved with removal of item #6-HUMAN-022, it was not ready for today. (M/S;Norris.Gunder) Unanimous Minutes from March 21, 2012 Approved. (M/S;Norris.Stricker) 5-0-2. Consent Agenda ENGIN-030- Textbook Approved. (M/S;Norris.Gardner) Unanimous Credit by Exam Janice worked on a form that delineates the curriculum process to review/approve credit by exam requests. The district policy and Title V policy are not in alignment. Title V states it is not required to present the examination for curriculum review, only that a process is in place. The district policy, 4001- 1.e states an examination reviewed and approved by instruction/curriculum committee. In an effort to bring Ӱɴý into compliance; and to keep in mind faculty opinion on our process; faculty expertise in their discipline; as well as helping students succeed; the form could leave off the mention of providing a copy of the exam. A grading rubric will be attached to the form that will assist the committee in evaluating the assessment of CSLOs in the course(s) requesting credit by exam. This would satisfy Title V requirements. A motion was made to accept this form and process it with minor grammar corrections; leaving out the provide a copy of the exam; and to forward this committees request to the Academic Senate so that this change to the district policy would align with Title V through the appropriate channels. (M/S; Gardner. Huffman) 6-1-0. The motion passed. Janice will prepare a request to go to Academic Senate for a change in the district policy on credit by exam. Kasey will forward his noted corrections in grammar to Janice. New Program Nick Garcia was available to answer questions on his AA-T in Theatre Arts for Transfer. The committee was provided a copy of this Associate Degree in Acting that was approved in December for reference in what the differences are. The following corrections were suggested: Add T.O.P. code front page Theatre Arts Uncheck GE box on template last box noting DRAMA 051 or 052 as GE. Page 1- item 2 Catalog Descriptor last sentence. Change class to course. Page 3 Criteria B Need -#6-distinquish between the AA Acting and the AAT Theatre here. And put #9 in (left out). Page 4 Criteria D Put generic paragraph in used in other TMCs. This provides enough information on adequate resources for all the programs at present. The new program- Associate in Arts degree in Theatre Arts for Transfer is approved with the corrections noted above. (M/S;Gardner.Norris) Unanimous. The AA in Acting and this AAT will be forwarded to Academic Senate. Disproportionate Impact A letter from IDEA was disseminated and discussed regarding disproportionate impact and the curriculum committee recommendations from the 2-15-12 Curriculum meeting. See Minutes from 2-15-12 copied at the end of these minutes for reference. Also information from Tim Clow was also shared. Discussion included the following: The committee agrees that the numbered items from the IDEA letter should be infused in everything we do and often is. Curriculum should respond to the IDEA letter in writing to clarify the misconceptions. Janice, Michael and Paula have been meeting to work on a content review process. This has not been presented to Curriculum yet and will be on our agenda for May 2nd. The outcome is to wait to respond to IDEA until Curriculum has voted upon a content review process and had further discussion. CID List from Chancellor The committee looked at the currently approved list of Programs from the Chancellors site. Gil and Kiran have put together a list of programs that are currently in progress writing a TMC. There was discussion that the state is looking at 80 percent compliance. Currently approved for Ӱɴý is: Communication; Psychology; Sociology; and Early Childhood Education. In the approval process is Kinesiology and Theatre Arts. More to come! Form Revision The current COOR still lists ISLOs. All those can be removed from our form with the exception of the GE ISLOs. Approved. (M/S;Norris.Gunder) Unanimous. Margaret will update the COOR. CTE Prerequisites Curriculum committee will have to develop a process to review the CTE prerequisites every two years. This will be a future agenda item. Repeatability The repeatability for CTE courses was not included in the approval process passing through the State channels. A final vote will happen in July with an estimated implementation in January 13 for the new repeatability policy. Janice asked Anthony Hailey to alert the CTE department chairs of this policy coming forward. Courses will need to be re-written and come through curriculum committee to address the lack of repeatability. This is particularly an issue for lab courses that have current repeatability and will not have that option any longer once the approval process is complete at the state level. Membership The following vacancies need to be filled for FA12 CC Committee. Counseling; Liberal Arts and Science; Nursing (CTE). Janice will forward the other names of continuing members and replacements that we know for approval at Academic Senate so Laurie has a full committee for FA12. Standing Item Academic Senate Academic Senate voted on the GE box requirements for an Associate Degree. 18 units of GE with an ethnic studies box that will double count was approved. This will apply in the 13-14 catalog. The IDEA letter was discussed. Basic Skills English courses, i.e., ENGL 050 and 060; have the same CB coding as ESL courses. A presentation from English would be helpful to understand the differences. Meeting adjourned 3:05 p.m. Appendix: Minutes of 2-15-12 CC A straw poll was made around the table to hear what committee constituencies felt regarding what recommendation curriculum committee should make to Academic Senate regarding interdisciplinary prerequisites. The consensus was that the content review only method should be an option along with the current model of statistical analysis with content review. A motion was made to recommend to Academic Senate to push for a 100 percent content review method for interdisciplinary prerequisites. (M/S;Gardner.Hailey) Unanimous. The motion passed. Next Steps - Janice asked if Paula and Michael will work with her on a process to recommend next. $+01;?@AHIJjl{ ] ^ _ h t u } ƿۻ׷׫ۣ۷ۓی{tpth2 hGhGh<]h$Y`h >* hQ>* hhh #hAhQh<h$jshRhhbhjh^#hp h~3hph~3hp>* hp>*h"h"ZhG2hEwh h*h h*h*h >* h >*,@A_ u K L LMYk* & Fgd gd'gdv+0^gd^gd~3gd #gd! gd J K L X Y _ a g h i k r t y ۍۅ|xtojoe^ hlRDhK hC>* h />* hK>*hChH h>">*hv+0h{FhyOohE-hi h<hE- h<h< h<hyOo hE-hE- h$js>* hG2>* h^#>* h^>*h9h~3>* hNhN h$Y`hWRhG2h^#hDyh$Y` h$Y`>* h~3>* h >* hKv`>*$ 0 2 3 A P Y [ \ E R - 7 < u v ?ps ,1Gefglmuv5JKLMYAjk*»»ѳѳծժժhiwh h$3(>*hyhlRD hlRDhlRD hlRDh-I5hTh4Oh-I5h$3(hf>: hlRDhK hlRDh{ hlRDh$3( hlRDh4O hlRDhT@*>1wDjk:;I"=>gdEgd [ & Fgd-}gdiw & Fgd 1"S1ijk;@A;I"<=>?@_` / ɻɧh-}h-}6>* hG>*hGhG>* hEh / h /h /h /h />* hlRD>* h />* hE>*hEh / hlRDh / hlRDh [ h [>*h [hNh hlRDh{h{ h-}>*h-}4>?@` @ / Q""""""""""""""gdt-gd'gd-}gdiwgd / & Fgd /gdE/ """""""""""""""""""""""""h 'hYh /h jh U hKhKhf>:h4O h$3(hiwhiwh-}h-}>*h-}h-}6""""""""""""""""gd',1h/ =!"#$% ^ 2 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~_HmH nH sH tH @`@ NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontViV Table Normal :V 44 la (k (No List BBB Body Text CJOJQJTT .
