Motion to table COOR: Pam Perfumo Second: Don Kaiper Yes unanimous Existing Course Outlines of Record BIOSC 21- Principles of Biology Discipline: Biology Second semester of Biology major course. To articulate the course with UC Berkeley, UCB required the course content to be re-written to clearly include evolution, plants and ecology. The COOR appears to have added a pre-requisite in addition to an advisory. Richard will clarify will the Biology Department if they are adding a pre-requisite or if it is an error on the form. If they are adding a pre-requisite to the course, the pre-requisite will have to be approved separately by the Curriculum Committee. To assist with the articulation deadlines, the Committee voted to approve the changes to the content and the course description only, without the pre-requisite. There was a discussion to change some prompts. Revisions suggested were: Page 2 in Program Level SLOs, change to optional for 2005-06 academic year. Page 3 change prompt to List 5-8 over-arching or broad SLO outcomes for this course. These are the course objectives written from the learner perspective) Page 3 change prompt to Relate the content to the Course Level SLOs. Occupational Programs may choose to list their content by hours or other variables if required by law or their discipline Page 4 add Keep in mind that Page 4 change prompt re Assignments to Provide one or two examples of assignments that will be used to assess student achievement of Course Level student learning outcomes. Page 5 change prompt re Method of Evaluation to include Grades should reflect student attainment of course learning outcomes. Page 5 - Textbooks for degree applicable courses, textbooks should be college-level Detailed instructions on how to complete the form will be provided on a separate instruction sheet. For the academic year 2004-05, the Curriculum Committee will accept either form (old or new) for new or existing course outlines. This will provide time for staff development. From July 1, 2005 only the new COOR form will be accepted for new and existing course outlines. Agenda for next meeting May 19, 2004 The Committee determined it required an additional meeting. Items 9-15 on todays agenda were tabled until our next (and last meeting of the semester) which will be on Wednesday, May 19th from 1:00 3:00 p.m. in Room 409.
