FOREIGN LANGUAGE/ASL Intermediate Spanish 2 (Effective SP06) FOREIGN LANGUAGE/ASL Conversational Spanish I (Effective SP06) SPANISH Spanish for Business (Effective SP06) FOREIGN LANGUAGE/ASL- Intermediate Spanish I (Effective SP06) The following discussion on online courses: Explanation of how conversation/culture component works in an online environment Online is a different pedagogy than traditional face-to-face courses Should the online subcommittee consider whether or not a proposed online course allows the student to meet the CSLO in additional to considering student contact? The final decision should rest with the Curriculum Committee after review from the Online Committee Suggestion that the Online Committee needs a disinterested party on the committee for checks and balances and to prevent any appearance of self-interest. Are online courses meeting the same scrutiny that all other courses? The other suggestions made for online courses included the following: Online should be listed under Method of Instruction in the COOR Completely online courses need a new COOR with a new Method of Instruction specific to online delivery and exchange of information Pedagogy methods of instruction should be added to the online form to accomplish SLOs Discussion of how articulation questions should be answered For the present, no additional information should be put on the existing COOR pending further discussion. Laurie Huffman will give the committee a 15-20 minute presentation of a completely online course at the October 19 meeting.
