Lapriore): Firstly, I apologize that I am not able to provide this statement or my input in virtual person today due to a conflict with that of my role in the Classified Senate meeting occurring simultaneously. I also want to extend my gratitude to Marci Lapriore for reading this on my behalf today, and to the Academic Senate for listening. As a Classified Professional at Ӱɴý for almost 13 years, and a member of the Classified Senate Council for almost three (3) years; I have some concerns pertaining to the recent conversations on the direction or rather responsible group/committee for the Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs) Core Group. Institutional Learning Outcomesare defined as the knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes thatstudentsare expected to develop as a result of their overall experiences with any aspect of the College, including courses, programs, andstudentservices. Specifically, within this definition their overall experiences with any aspect of the College, emphasizes that ISLOs are more than just the purview of teaching and learning. the College, emphasizes that ISLOs are more than just the purview of teaching and learning. It is the responsibility of all constituents and facets of the College to develop and implement ISLOs, not solely that of TLC nor the Academic Senate. ISLOs include not just courses, not just instructional programs but student services and administration. As ISLOs are a shared College responsibility, the reporting structure and charge should be that of the Shared Governance Council (SGC) as originally outlined. Only in SGC, can we ensure that all constituents have an equal voice and vote (faculty, classified professionals, administration, and students) not only in the process but also in the development and ultimate approval of the ISLOs. The original core group membership that was designed by Dr. Chialin Hsieh (P&IE Office) upon request of SGC, is very collaborative and offers a constituency-based representation to ensure all constituent groups have representation and participation in the process.2.Public Comment Continuation from ISLO Core Group Statement by BethAnn Stone (Read by M. Lapriore): In my opinion, as a Classified Professional and a member of the Classified Senate Council, this is the most efficient and collaborative membership to proceed with. If any change is made to the responsible chair(s) or committee for overseeing the meetings and processes of the ISLOs Core Group, then I would reason that it should be a tri-chair group with a faculty member, a member of administration and a member of classified professionals to shoulder this responsibility. Limiting this matter to only include input and oversight of administration and faculty, sends a message that ISLOs are not inclusive of all constituents nor shared governance. Lastly, I wanted to convey that as a member of the Classified Senate Council we have not been informed nor provided any information on the current status of the ISLOs Core Group including why the process has stalled. This eludes to a lack of constituency-based input, collaboration and communication, which is a major point of concern. In conclusion, I request that any decisions made pertaining to the oversight of the ISLO Core Group and responsible chair(s) be made a part of shared governance, within the confines of a Shared Governance Council meeting where all constituents have the opportunity to provide their input and vote. Furthermore, I advocate that the overall responsibility of ISLOs and the Core Group remain with SGC to ensure it is indeed a shared responsibility of all constituents. As ISLOs, by definition, include overall experiences with any aspect of the College it reasons to say that it should remain in a shared governance reporting structure with the collaborative, constituency-based membership as previously outlined. Pedersen shared the 15 members of managers, faculty & staff participating in Strategic Scheduling Sub-group and 3 objectives of SEM pertaining to strategic scheduling. Current strategic scheduling discussions: 1) Rollover process, 2) Department Independently 3) Problems identified; schedule inflation, large course cuts, difficulty for student planning, revoking PT employment offers, lack of control over instructional teaching budget & lack of growth money exaggerates issues and shared overall allocation funding formula and resources over time. A percentage model was shown for department allocation and modification method of allocation for productivity & success.
