Extremely Well 5 Very Well 15 Moderately Well 8 Slightly Well 3 Not at all Well 2 I think the Senate should consider ways to strengthen and improve participation. For example by communicating not only what items are up for discussion but also why the issues are important to all faculty, what changes would mean to the college, etc How well do you think the Senate deals with important issues? Extremely Well 4 Very Well 9 Moderately Well 12 Slightly Well 7 Not at all Well 1 The topics the Senate takes up are done well, in my opinion. However I think the Senate avoids some of the most important issues so does not do a good job dealing with those. For example, quality of instruction at Ӱɴý is mixed if not poor, and instructors consistently do not each to the course outline. This topic alone completely erodes the quality and respect our college has in our community. How well do you think the Senates decisions represent the will of the faculty? Extremely Well 5 Very Well 10 Moderately Well 16 Slightly Well 2 Not at all Well 1 Dont feel that I have enough information to answer this question. See #1 above, get more involvement and participation. How satisfies are you with the way your senator represents you personally? Extremely Satisfied 13 Very Satisfied 12 Moderately Satisfied 3 Slightly Satisfied 0 Not At All Satisfied 2 Im not sure who my Senate Rep is 2 Give me a new senator. Ill do it myself. He brings issues up consistently at department meetings and tried to represent our voices at Senate meetings. Do you think the Senate deals with issues that are important to you? Almost Always 6 Often 16 Sometimes 9 Seldom 5 Never 0 What would you like to see Ӱɴýs faculty accomplish in these areas in the 2012-2013 school year? How can the Senate help with this? TMC & CI-D, Need thermometer bulb, I am a good example of whom you need to get working on it. I would love to see the Senate become more efficient and root out the self-interested members. Which areas would this be? Better communication. Scale up & Institutionalize successful programs; scale down everything else. Would like some more ideas of what there should be (leadership with student learning). Clarification of GE changes and effectively getting info to counselors and students. Revise the GE requirements as voted on by the faculty as a whole as quickly as possible. I would like to see Ӱɴý faculty re-evaluate the schedule of course offerings in an effort to eliminate course scheduling conflicts. A policy requiring students to obtain a student education plan within a year of enrolling at Ӱɴý might promote student success. Carefully examine the process for establishing prerequisites Ethnic Studies GE Requirement. I would like to see the policies for faculty professional development activities be more fully operational. In other words, all faculty should adhere to them and actually be expected to take part in Flex and document their participation with penalties if not completed. The next Catalog should have the NEW AA/AS requirements (matching the MINIMUM Title V requirements). I would like the Senate to work on making a recommendation to the administration to require an orientation with a college skills workshop for all new students, not just students who want to do the orientation. (no. 5) I would also like to see something done toward eventually getting ENG 100 eligibility as a prerequisite to the transfer classes on campus, i.e., the Ӱɴý classes that are supposed to be the same experience as at a university. (no. 1). Finish up the new degree requirements. To the degree possible, make Program Review less onerous. One part of this may be expressing the view that too much time is spent on strategic planningnot that strategic planning doesnt need to be done, but that it can be accomplished with less meetings, documents, consultants, tasks forces, and all the rest. Get the GE/AA requirements mess sorted out so we can move forward with confidence. Are there any other issues you would like the Senate to work on? Leadership with student learning. Support the path to State Caucus to keep Math 27 alive. Have a nicer faculty lounge. Lets bring the AA/GE discussion to resolution soon. Perhaps I am dreaming, but I would love to see the Senate foster a spirit of collaboration among faculty that is not as easy to see in many important issues. Acceleration, scalability. Keep up the good work. These are a lot of things that Ӱɴý could do to make the student experience less confusing. Many classified staff on campus find themselves in positions that primarily support faculty and directly and/or indirectly students; yet, they report to a manager that has no day to day interaction with them or oversight of their work. Then, when faculty gets involved, Local 1 cries foul. Local 1 has also limited the ability of faculty to be involved in the selection of new hires in these classifications, even though for all practical intents and purposes, it is faculty that oversees the day to day duties of these individuals. Is there anything that can be done about this? Are you full or part time? Full-time 26 Part-time 7 How long have you been working at Ӱɴý? Less than 5 years 5 5-10 years 10 15-25 years 12 25+ years 5 Are you a member of the Senate? Yes 6 No 24 Are you interested in being more involved with the Senate? Yes 7 No 19 N/A 4 Is there anything else you would like to tell the Senate? Thanks for the many selfless representatives for your work! Ms. Moore is doing an excellent job! She is awesome! I really appreciate how Akilah comes prepared to move through agenda items. As an adjunct, Im not that aware of what the Senate does and havent paid much attention to it to be honest. Thanks for not letting a vocal minority overrule the will of the majority in trying a simplified GE system that is at least 10 years overdue. Thank you Akilah, Clint, Ginny and senators for your hard work. The Senate at times needs to play more of a supervisory role over the Curriculum Committee, to limit the excesses that body has engaged in. 8 h`h 8m # ] q O P I & Fgd`h^hgd` & Fgd`$a$gd`I +EjkI\iyu & Fgd`gd` & Fgd`h^hgd` & Fgd` & Fgd`RX\+O A^1Lc & Fgd` & Fgd`h^hgd`gd` & Fgd`-;<cx!*34n,( i & Fgd`h^hgd` & Fgd`i h^hgd`h^hgd` & Fgd`21h:p`/ =!"#$% f 666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666866666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p(8HX`~OJQJ_HmH nH sH tH J`J 0Normal dCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k ( No List T@T b Colorful List - Accent 1 ^m$PK![Content_Types].xmlN0EH-J@%ǎǢ|ș$زULTB l,3;rØJB+$G]7O٭V$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
