However, the MESA affiliate program will proceed including a RAP proposal later this year Accreditation visit begins October 13. The Accreditation team may be coming to your classes to observe. Consultation Classroom management issues including high numbers of high school students in classes. Now a management priority. Professional development requested by faculty. Concern: concurrent enrollment might be above the recommended percentage. This is a Title 5 issue: concurrent enrollment is not just for make up work Will be a topic at the upcoming High School Counselors Conference later this semester Cheating policy will be revisited. Currently Faculty Dishonesty Policy, Student Code of Conduct, Discipline policy, recommendations from district lawyer, and recommendations from State Academic Senate all have differing policies. DGC (District Governance Council) Code of Ethics (see below on agenda) California budget finally passed with likely midyear cuts anticipated by the District. Board considered possibility of a loan if needed due to state budget payments not yet received Distance Education Committee Blackboard updates District Portal Discussion SGC rep came with questions about recent documents produced by Distance Ed. Committee: Best Practices for Distance Ed., Policies for Distance Education, Blackboard document Laurie Huffman will come to Senate to present Future online AA degree FSCC (Faculty Senate Coordinating Council) Created draft of goals for 2008-2009: Increase faculty participation (plenary conference, institutes sponsored by State Academic Senate) Improve communication and coordination among district Academic Senates Collaborate with UF on shared issues including part-time preference rehire rights, evaluations, embedded units Collaborate on Distance Education issues including Blackboard, district portal and possible online AA degree Review Ed. Code changes Exchange information about institution, services, programs in order to improve instruction and student achievement across the district such as: Basic Skills Initiative programs Faculty Mentoring Programs Curriculum across disciplines & campuses Special programs such as Puente, Learning Communities, Avid Textbook Committee Regular meeting time set Tuesdays 2-4 p.m. Requesting additional student and faculty participation Concern: newly hired dean. Requested Management Productivity as future Senate agenda item.4,5Approval of previous minutes Agenda reading and approvalMinutes approved with correction: add Mara Landers as appointed to district portal committee. (15-0-0) Not all senators received minutes this time. Agenda approved with no corrections (15-0-0)6Proposed Changes to AA degree DVC Senate president Laurie Lema and Senate VP Ray Goralka presented on proposed changes to AA degree at DVC. General Education package last reviewed 10 years ago with no changes. Many areas had only limited course offerings to meet GE requirements. DVC didnt have a transfer major previously. GE aligned as much as possible with IGETC requirements. Concern: transfer major not allowed by State Senate. Proposed DVC Transfer major: students must still declare a major and complete transfer requirements Proposed change for DVC transfer/alternate GE requirements would remove American Institutions, PE, and Health Education as mandatory requirements for transfer students. Would require a change in board policy. American Institutions, Health, and PE requirements would be moved to DVC GE requirements standard path. Most students at DVC take standard path for AA. At a later time, DVC will likely forward request to change board policy to FSCC. At that time, Ӱɴý Academic Senate will request feedback from faculty. Board will primarily rely on Senates for recommendation and then proposal will go to DGC. Concern may impact enrollments. Ӱɴý has relatively low numbers of transferring students so may not be a large impact Compressed calendar: faculty concerned about turning students away. At this point, the district has not cleared DVC to move to the 16 week schedule due to resources. Other districts have allowed one college to move to a shorter schedule as a test.7AppointmentsPlanning Committee: Julie Von Bergen, Madeline Puccioni both confirmed (15-0-0) Curriculum Committee: Sandra Castillo (Voc. Ed. Rep), Gabriella Boehm (Lib. Arts Rep) both confirmed (15-0-0) Study Abroad Committee: Curtis Corlew, Frances Moy, Jeff Mitchell all confirmed (15-0-0) 8Code of Conduct updateFaculty code of conduct started in response to unauthorized grade change. Suggestions from faculty: Remove negative statements (no employee shall change to employees shall) Remove disciplinary action present in both new and old versions Ӱɴý Senate suggestions were sent forward and supported by other groups at DGC Shall not statements: fewer statements than shall statements and simpler document overall Training for incoming employees on ethics: if code of ethics is changed, district likely to have training for employees on new ethics requirements9Block SchedulingSummary of pros and cons from previous discussions: Pros (for Block Scheduling) Some growth money Students like it Brentwood campus is successful with block schedule Pedagogically better (some depts. feel longer class time allows for more in depth demonstration) Student attendance is two days instead of three days Adjunct facultyscheduling is easier for faculty who work at multiple campuses Greener scheduleless commuting Current scheduling pattern not meeting student and/or dept. needs. Some depts. are able to cross scheduling patterns Cons (against Block Scheduling) Ӱɴý already has 15% growth Scheduling pattern conflicts Dont mess with success Large incoming high school classes New facilities and remodeling changes Pedagogically better (skill acquisition classes) Space issues would decrease enrollments in some areas (i.e. music) due to offering fewer courses Student Support Services demand increase: longer hours, weekends Senate recommends Block Schedule for Fall 2009 (9-1-3)10Celebrating Campus SuccessSuggestions included: actual celebration such as off-campus pizza night or house party with adult beverages 11Accounting FTEs meetingGeneral discussion of FTEs included benefits of scheduling courses for longer than 50 minute sessions. Scheduling courses can increase FTEs up to 30%. Concern: how would longer periods affect scheduling? How would load change? Block Scheduling will go to SGC 11AdjournmentThought for the day: It would be great to treat our colleagues very nicely with all the ongoing financial stress !#%BL@ g x y d e ĹwnwbVNBNBNh#x>#>5Oϴ#>ϴ'.G5Oϴ'.6$5Oϴa5Oϴ'.7Ʉ5Oϴ'.?5Oϴڳ?ϴ&ϴ'.?ϴ'.<5OJQJhP'.h<OJQJhP'.h<5CJOJQJaJh9OJQJh<OJQJh95OJQJh;5n5OJQJh<5OJQJ!BCL? @ A P f g Zkd$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la $Ifgd<gd< $@&a$gd< g i w x y { h[ & F$IfgdfYkd$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la $Ifgd< e qhh_VEE & F$$If]gd@ $IfgdG $Ifgd7w $Ifgd<kdP$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la q r ~ # p 4 *+9:@dû̔ÌxodXLhP'.hxz5OJQJhP'.hg5OJQJhrBh#:OJQJh5OJQJhrB5OJQJh#x>h#x>OJQJhr&WOJQJhP'.h6$5OJQJhrBhrBOJQJh#:OJQJhrBOJQJhdOJQJh6$5OJQJhd5OJQJhP'.h#x>5OJQJh#x>OJQJh#x>h6$5OJQJh^h^OJQJ r $ D+F" & F'$Ifgd#: $Ifgd@ _ & F$$Ifgd#x> & F$$Ifgdr&W $Ifgd6$ & F&$IfgdrB & F&$IfgdrB & F&$Ifgdd $Ifgdd & F$$If]gd@":e7,!_r & F#$If]gd.( $If]gd.( & F#$If]gd8F & F#$If]gdr&W & F#$If]gd& & F#$If]gd^ $If]gdP'. & F'$Ifgd#:de567zg{]^_r23478@TUq氨}rgr\g\hP'.h OJQJhP'.h7wOJQJhP'.hxzOJQJhP'.h?5OJQJh8Fh.(OJQJh.(OJQJh.(h.(5OJQJhaOJQJh8FhaOJQJh>OJQJhlOJQJh^OJQJh#x>OJQJh^h^OJQJhr&WOJQJh&OJQJh6$5OJQJ#348UqSJJJJ $Ifgd<kd$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la $If]gd.( & F#$If]gd.(q+4567UVUV)·󷐅}}qf}Z}Z}R}Rhp<OJQJhShS5OJQJhShSOJQJhSht 5OJQJhSOJQJhP'.h^GfOJQJhP'.h7w5OJQJhP'.h^OJQJh^OJQJh7wOJQJhP'.h OJQJhOOJQJhOhO>*OJQJhOh8F>*OJQJh8FOJQJh8F5OJQJhP'.h 5OJQJ457VVh[[N & F#$IfgdS & F#$IfgdSkd$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la $Ifgd<Y,-'()+78QRSTVlm !Ĺ|qf^VhIOJQJh>%OJQJhP'.h9OJQJhW?hW?OJQJhOROJQJhW?OJQJhP'.h 5OJQJhOhJOJQJhOhOOJQJhP'.hOROJQJhP'.h OJQJhP'.h 5OJQJhP'.hS5OJQJhSOJQJhp<OJQJhp<hp<5OJQJh.(OJQJ!V-()+JA $Ifgd<kdH$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la & F#$IfgdS & F#$Ifgdp< & F#$Ifgdp<+8STVmNkd$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la & F%$Ifgd.( & F%$IfgdO $Ifgd<m\Jkd$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la & F($IfgdW? & F($IfgdW? & F($Ifgd.("U: Z !(!@!d!!! & F*$IfgdI $IfgdI & F)$IfgdI & F)$IfgdW? $IfgdW? & F!$IfgdYPZ $Ifgd< ! !"""##%#@#H$I$J$K$L$M$X$Y$$$$$ͽşh<hP'.h/[5OJQJh&ch/[OJQJhP'.h/[OJQJhYPZOJQJh2OJQJh&cOJQJhP'.hI5OJQJhP'.h95OJQJhIhIOJQJhIOJQJhW?OJQJ!"_"`"""""[RR $Ifgd<kd@$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la $IfgdI & F*$IfgdI"$#%#(#@##($I$d[[NNN & F+$Ifgd&c $Ifgd<kd$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la & F+$IfgdII$J$M$Y$$qhh_ $Ifgd&c $Ifgd<kd$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la$$$qokd8$$IflF`0* t0*6 44 la21h:pxz/ =!"#$% $$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5$$If!vh55 5#v#v #v:V l t0*655 5^ 2 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~_HmH nH sH tH H`H <Normal CJOJQJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRi@R Table Normal4 l4a (k (No List jj < Table Grid7:V0ZYZ H; Document Map-D M CJOJQJ^JaJHH /[ Balloon TextCJOJQJ^JaJPK![Content_Types].xmlj0Eжr(΢Iw},-j4 wP-t#bΙ{UTU^hd}㨫)*1P' ^W0)T9<l#$yi};~@(Hu* Dנz/0ǰ $ X3aZ,D0j~3߶b~i>3\`?/[G\!-Rk.sԻ..a濭?PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!Ptheme/theme/theme1.xmlYOo6w toc'vuر-MniP@I}úama[إ4:lЯGRX^6؊>$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
