Ӱɴý has one position (Ollie Sansens old position) that should be included. The District has started to reallocate Classified and Managers based on FTES, but not for faculty yet. However, colleges that dont make the faculty FTES to support the full-time faculty that they have may be asked to relinquish retirements. Budget update: Cuts have already been made to hourly classified but there will not be any cuts to full-time staff nor furlough this year. Ӱɴý was allocated three managers but they were never hired and wont be filled at this time due to budget. Student Behavior Task Force report: This task force is comprised of multiple representatives from Classified and Managers, as well as five faculty members. The task force was convened to talk about and find solutions for behavioral issues related on campus. Topic of the discussion included: use of profanity, respect among students, faculty and staff. The need for Professional Development was also discussed. There have been a lot of complaints from many areas that have filtered up to Peter Garcia, which in turn led to the development of the task force. Some questions from the Academic Senate were: what is the goal of the task force; should the Academic Senate assist in giving the task force some direction? Jeff Michels made a brief announcement regarding the Tentative Agreements. The UF signed the Tentative Agreements there will be retro checks coming to Department Chairs. More information coming out soon. Michaels Follow-Up Michael followed up with Richard Livingston regarding making cuts to sections in Summer 2010 and pushing those sections to Fall 2010. Currently there is no mechanism at this point for doing it. When a mechanism is finalized, could there be a memo letting everyone know? Michael will follow-up on this. Michael followed-up regarding the timing of Special-Admit (High School) students registration. Peter Garcia looked into it and tentatively all Special-Admit (High School) students continuing or not will all register the day after non-returning college students. Question: we are not looking into adapting to block scheduling. Due to the reduction in sections it should work better. Students prefer it due to work schedules, some faculty and departments prefer it. Michael stated that he would follow-up on this topic. Michael also followed up with Loretta from Financial Aid regarding those students who enroll in school solely for financial aid money and then drop their classes. Financial Aid does take certain measures so these students cannot enroll again, they also do try to locate the students to pay back money. Also, if students are dropped earlier rather than later by instructors for lack of attendance, it assists financial aid. Curriculum Committee Janice Townsend stated the Curriculum Committee needs a replacement for next semester on Content Review and Curriculum Committee. Christina Goff will be on leave and her position will be vacant and the replacement must happen very quickly due to training that needs to be completed this semester. Curriculum Committee will give Janice a recommendation at the next meeting. Faculty Senates Coordinating Council Consultation is revamping the Educational Planning Committee. They are looking at making it more about planning education and distance education. They will also look at what to do to help make better teaching, better education and better planning. General Education Committee The second to last GE seminar of the semester is next Monday October 19th. It will be dealing with discipline specific reading strategies.4,5Approval of previous minutes Agenda reading and approvalMinutes approved with no corrections: (16-0-0) Agenda approved with no corrections (16-0-0)6AppointmentsDGC Representative DGC Representative is still needed! Exemplary Award There are two nominees for the Exemplary Award, the Umoja Program and the AVID Program. Hayward Award Information will be sent out very soon regarding the award nominations. Upcoming Elections The Senate is asking for candidates for the open Senate seats. The Academic Senate Vice President election will be coming up toward the end of the semester. 7Proposed Environmental Science major at DVCHistory and Discussion DVC has proposed a new Environmental Science Program that would compete with ours. Ӱɴýs Environmental Science Program would compete with DVCs (if it is passed) so what direction (for or against) would we like to take and therefore have our Senate President take at the Governing Board meeting? One of the Senators brought up that the current Environmental Science program has had difficulty filling classes due to low enrollment. Michael stated that he will talk to faculty in charge of Environmental Science and get their feedback. This topic will come back to the Senate for further discussion.8AA Degree removing requirement and student impactHistory At one of the Counseling meetings there was some concern regarding a class that was being removed from the AA Degree requirements. When the new COOR was submitted for Philosophy 41, the faculty decided to remove it from the AA Degree graduation requirements (GE). So now this class does not meet the requirements of Ӱɴý General Education because its COOR does not meet the five criteria for GE. The concern from the Counseling Department is that options for students to meet graduation requirements can be reduced without considering impact to students. Discussion There is a concern among Counselors that as it is Ӱɴý does not have a lot of choices for classes to fulfill the AA Degree requirements. One suggestion was that even though this maybe a very large and extensive discussion it may need to happen. The student impact is more of a concern because now there are limited options for student as it is. Other faculty may also decide to remove their classes from the GE requirements. Discussion is put on hold for future meeting.9Evaluations Jeff MichelsUpdate and Discussion Jeff Michels, the Union Faculty President came to give a brief presentation on the Evaluation Guidebook proposals. They are all on the web and there were hard copies distributed. There is one for each group of faculty. They have been reorganized with a unique numbering system in each book in a consistent order for easy reference. The main thing that was changed is the forms. The Student Evaluation Form has been changed to make the language and the questions more easily understood. The Faculty Evaluation Form has been changed to be more pedagogically sound. There was some reorganization of the scaling system. The summary form has been removed. Another thing that has changed is the Self Evaluation Checklist and that part-time faculty will also be required to do a self evaluation. Instead of a majority of strongly agree as stated in Article 25, it will be rephrased to show that a majority of 5s or 4s will be needed for staffing preference. The online evaluation process is inadequate. It has been revised since last year, but needs more improvement. Future improvement on that will hopefully come next year. Some concerns were raised regarding evaluations of online faculty as far as, how to evaluate them properly. There will be future discussions and brainstorming regarding the improvement of online evaluations. The need for an online electronic form for evaluations was identified. The UF is taking feedback through the end of October. So far the feedback has been positive. All the feedback will be taken to collective bargaining in mid November. The ratification vote for this will most likely be held at the beginning of next year, for implementation in Fall 2010. Forms will be included with the guidebooks before implementation. Jeff Michels are asking for a vote of confidence from the Academic Senate on the process.10TLP Leadership (see Handout)Review and Discussion The UF is not comfortable changing the contract to create a new faculty position unless it is clear that that is what the faculty wants. The UF cannot go forward with the original full-time faculty TLP Coordinator position as proposed last year from the Senate. The UF felt there was fairly strong opposition to go forward with the TLP Leadership Coordinator position. Many other colleges are using reassigned time. The goal is to have the UF support whatever the faculty and Senate recommend for this position. Last year the Senate just assessed the value of that position as it relates to the value of the work that has to be done in SLOs, assessments and TLP. The UF E Board is concerned about using a new full time faculty position for the SLO/TLP project. The Senate will revisit the TLP Leadership/SLO Coordinator position. 11Adjournment "'*4DN^n 3 M N e w x ºzrjzjZS hP'.hOhP'.h<5CJOJQJaJh^OJQJh7 OJQJhg@OJQJhr6aOJQJhtOJQJhGsOJQJh4OJQJhkOJQJh,POJQJh\(OJQJhfoOJQJhh?OJQJh<OJQJhr6a5OJQJhfo5OJQJhg@5OJQJh<5OJQJh}!5OJQJ"DENN O x y $Ifgd<gd< $@&a$gd< qhhh $Ifgd<kd$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{ 6 E Q R S X j l 9 : C ] ^ o s $ R S T y !Žŵŵŵŵŵŭťŝh|h|OJQJh%OJQJh0(-OJQJhC{OJQJhFW|OJQJhg@OJQJhMOJQJhOJQJhd?OJQJh6h'5>*OJQJhh?OJQJhP'.h?OJQJ hP'.hOhP'.h<OJQJ0 qhh[ $If^gdt $Ifgd<kd$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{ ^ T !qhh[JJJ & F($If]gdg@ $If]gdt $Ifgd<kdR$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{/0678?@be67d $()P_ShĶ̮̮̮̮̮̮̒|t|t|i|ah8?OJQJh8?h8?OJQJhNCOJQJh8?h+OJQJhg@5>*OJQJh0(-h0(-5>*OJQJh0(-h9 5>*OJQJh0(-OJQJh9 hg@5>*OJQJh9 OJQJhC{OJQJh OJQJh|hg@5>*OJQJh|h|5>*OJQJh|OJQJ%!077iv $If]gd 4 & F*$If]gd8? $If]gd8? & F*$If]gd+ $If]gdt & F)$If]gd0(- & F)$If]gdM $If]gd| & F($If]gdt hi,-.køΡΖ{ri{i`XPXE`h]hHrOJQJhOJQJh]OJQJh]5OJQJhdg5OJQJh 5OJQJht5OJQJhP'.he^OJQJ hP'.hOh]Th 4OJQJh8?h8?H*OJQJh 45>*OJQJhdg5>*OJQJhg@5>*OJQJh8?OJQJh8?h6F)5>*OJQJh8?hdg5>*OJQJh8?h8?5>*OJQJ-.2Ok^UUULC $Ifgd $IfgdHr $Ifgd kd$$IfllF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{ & F$If]gd]Twxû||ti^Sth> 5>*ϴ'.<OJQJh6h'h6h'OJQJh;OJQJh h OJQJh8?OJQJh 5>*OJQJhF5>*OJQJh6h'5>*OJQJhP'.h]OJQJhtOJQJhP'.he^OJQJh2'OJQJ hP'.hOh]h]OJQJh]OJQJhOJQJh OJQJ qhh_RI $Ifgd & F$Ifgd $IfgdF $Ifgd<kd$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{xEkdQ$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{ & F $Ifgd]T $Ifgd6h' $Ifgd & F$Ifgd8?8kd$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{ & F $Ifgd & F $Ifgdv $If^gd $Ifgd $Ifgd<hkPg !TU\]f @!ƾණwiaYhHOJQJhLgOJQJhlkh 5>*OJQJh h 5>*OJQJhlkhlkOJQJh OJQJhlkOJQJhDr5>*OJQJh 5>*OJQJhOJQJh OJQJhtEnOJQJ hP'.hOh hvOJQJh OJQJhvOJQJhOJQJh;OJQJ!U] A!o! & F+$Ifgdlk $If^gd $Ifgd<@!A!n!o!p!q!r!!!!!"""v##$0$$\%]%%%%%%%&&'';(|(}(((ŽꏗwlahL"hDOJQJh&RhDOJQJht{OJQJh&ROJQJh] OJQJhDOJQJhHOJQJhY5>*OJQJh 5>*OJQJh~OJQJh OJQJhOJQJhtEnOJQJ hP'.hOh hLg5>*OJQJhL"OJQJhLghlk5>*OJQJ#o!p!r!!!"]%';(qhh[NNNN & F,$IfgdL" $If^gd $Ifgd<kd$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{;(}(((((()WNNNA $If^gd< $Ifgd<kdL$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{ & F,$Ifgd&R & F,$IfgdL"((((((())**"*+++++ ,M,N,O,P,R,S,^,`,a,b,d,e,f,zskckc\XTPXhd\hHh< hP'.hhOJQJhBOJQJ hP'.htEnhyh OJQJhX hX OJQJh|OJQJh OJQJhX OJQJht{OJQJhyOJQJh&ROJQJh?+ 5>*OJQJhX 5>*OJQJh 5>*ϴ3ϴ<OJQJhtEnOJQJ hP'.h)**++ ,N,O,P,Nkd$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{ $Ifgd & F-$IfgdX & F-$Ifgd&RP,S,_,`,a,b,c,d,e,f,_]]]]]kd$$IflF`0*D t0*6 44 layt{ $Ifgd' $Ifgd< 21h:pxz/ =!"#$% $$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V ll t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{$$If!vh55D 5#v#vD #v:V l t0*655D 5yt{^ 2 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~_HmH nH sH tH H`H <Normal CJOJQJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRi@R 0 Table Normal4 l4a (k ( 0No List jj < Table Grid7:V0VYV H; Document MapM CJOJQJ^JaJHH /[ Balloon TextCJOJQJ^JaJ@@"@ FW List Paragraph ^m$6U16 NAQ Hyperlink >*B*phPK![Content_Types].xmlj0Eжr(΢Iw},-j4 wP-t#bΙ{UTU^hd}㨫)*1P' ^W0)T9<l#$yi};~@(Hu* Dנz/0ǰ $ X3aZ,D0j~3߶b~i>3\`?/[G\!-Rk.sԻ..a濭?PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!Ptheme/theme/theme1.xmlYOo6w toc'vuر-MniP@I}úama[إ4:lЯGRX^6؊>$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
