Agenda Items Business Education: is one of the most important topics for this year. No Quorum : Meeting with District wide Distance Ed. Committee. The committee meet doing flex week. Cherry L. Bugg.. Presented a report. There was JUST a discussion. The main topics were about the online courses provided at all college. Right now DVC has the most online courses available to students. Ted Wieden from District office is in the process of scheduling a meeting with the 3 curriculum committee chairs. The P.E courses are having some challenges. Ted will gather info from FSCC about online P.E requirements. One more issue is to set up a fourth curriculum committee which is district wide. So that the courses will be available to the colleges and district. The college or district. And will there be a General Education Package. At this point, a proposal is that faculty is to submit curriculum to their college curriculum committee. This was JUST a discussion. Concerns were raised on which college would get credit for online classes packaged by the district. Is there a plan to have a general Ed. Package for online students? Common courses numbering has not yet been resolved within the district. (English 50 at CCC, DVC, and Ӱɴý is the same class. Concerns about difference in general Ed requirements at each college. The major concern was the district distance instructional Goals. Is to meet the student requirements when tome for enrollment. Student must meet all G.E requirements, Degree requirements, or to complete all required courses to receive a certificate of completion of their educational goals. This was JUST a discussion. Auditing classes for a student to be hired as a tutor, they must take Human Services 57 (1 unit). Two international students wanted to tutor for the Math Department. The enrollment focus for international; students is approximately $200 per its. The math department would like to propose an auditing policy for international students who want to tutor. At CCC, students may audit a class for $15.00 per unit. With the instructor and deans permission. Auditing students do not receive grades. This was JUST a discussion. Other concerns raised included instructors not wanting auditing student in their class. Too many students might be enrolled in the class. Student will not have the insurance coverage. And impact on Health Center Services will be open hopefully in the fall here at Ӱɴý. The math department is proposing a pilot policy for auditing classes. Senate review and evaluation: there was a draft writing up, very little feed back. There also was a questioned asked for people who are not in or participate in the senate why? Mike Norris read an article about Statement on Professional Ethics the statement that follows, a revision of a statement originally adopted in 1966, was approved the Associations committee on Professional Ethics, adopted by the Associations Council in June 1987, and endorsed by the Seventy-third Annual meeting this was written in 2002. It covers everything about their responsibility to students and colleagues, and their conduct. The statement on a Professional Ethic that follows sets fourth those general standards that service as reminders of the variety of responsibilities assumed by all members of the profession. The article also talked about all the Ethics from a large stand point. Some examples are: Statements on Professional Ethics, Statements on Teaching Evaluation, and Post- Tenure Review on A.A.U.P. Response. Also on Principles on Academic Freedom and Tenure, on Procedural Standards in Faculty Dismissal Proceedings or the applicable provisions of the Associations recommended Institutional Regulations on Academic Freedom and Tenure.
