Goodin (Absent) Morgan Lynn (Attended): 2014-2019 Plan was returned to us with recommendations for revision; it wasnt accepted by the State. All colleges got it back because the State refined what they wanted in the Plan; they came up with much more prescriptive plan and action template: Every activity that you want funded through Student Equity money needs to be data driven; needs data of what the target group is for intervention, research based activity, timeline, budget, and evaluation measures. Equity money is all about equity outcome. Asks the college to look at its own data; we have to work with the District in this complicated process. Bob Kratochvil called for a core writing individuals. We have been asking people for suggestions that they would like in the Plan. The Plan has 6 success indicators: 1) Access, 2) Course Completion, 3) ESL & Basic Skills, 4) Degree & Certificate, 5) Transfer & 6) Other Activities Any activity suggested has to target one of these indicators and it has to target an in equity affected. The Plan is data driven and accountability. There is an Equity Committee and eventually will generate activities that they would like to fund & approved by all Senates. 7.Equity Plan Overview and Update (R. Goodin (Absent) Morgan Lynn (Attended) - Continued: We received an extension by the State until December 18th; Plan to be written and distributed through campus by October 22nd. Discussion were around communications between SGC and its constituents, managements voting assistance, Senators schedules, terms of services, importance of Senators presence, higher level questions, students voice/input, Senators reporting out each time, out of 3 faculty one should come from Academic Senate (Senate preference), L. Giambattista attends however not a voting member. It was recommended to have certainty that at least 1 Senator is present with certain committees: TLC, Curriculum Committee and SGC. Secretary was mentioned twice; Stipend Secretary and Recorder Secretary. The By Law Committee recommends changing the position title Stipend Secretary to simplify things. The By Law committee reviewed what the Stipend Secretarys purview was and the reason to have 3 Senate Council memberships was to also have a tie-breaker when voting occurs. Discussions were around Stipend Secretary and Recording Secretarys job duties, job classification and responsibilities were by the Districts guidelines, budget responsibilities to be done by Stipend Secretary and not by Recording Secretary, lateral positions, defining roles, President Kratochvil is funding the Recording Secretary position for 2015-2016, traditional roles in ASC, decreasing monetary compensation to Stipend Secretary based on lesser responsibilities, Parliamentary position (Stipend Secretary) and the need for further discussions. The By Law Committee will reconvened their meeting to address another title for Stipend Secretary instead of Chairperson, 2 or 3 bullet points of their responsibilities, the Senate to maintain Classified Secretary with clear definition of its role and position title. Campus Committee Request Guideline Senate Suggestion Updates (P. Gunder & L. Giambattista): Various people emailed P. Gunder individually regarding the chart and had suggestions. P. Gunder came up with few proposals of what the group should do; collecting data, information from different committees, committee chart, explanation of the chart, Chairs, how Chairs are selected, term of service/rotating service, faculty members on the committee, description faculty roles and length of their service, current membership of faculty that are on the committee, how are they chosen, administrative support for each committees and any associated reassign time.
