Until it passes we should only be using statistical validation to set pre and co requisites. BP 5033 brought only to change Ed Code reference, however Senates want to bring back to their colleges to see if faculty have other recommended changes. TBA/LBA Resolution Update (A. Moore): The resolution was sent out and Mojdeh said that she would be willing to come to the next Senate meeting. Akilah will contact Mojdeh about attending the next Senate meeting. Before the start of the spring semester the resolution will be clarified and a communication will be sent out to the faculty about the TBA/LBA forms. 10 Bylaws/Constitution Subcommittee update (A. Moore, E. Holtmann, C. Park, C. McGrath): There were 14 responses to the email that went out asking whether the Senate should change its representation model. 8 people said yes, 1 said no, 1 was unsure and 5 said that it should be modified slightly. The subcommittee will meet and be looking at the contradictions in the bylaws and constitution. 11. Survey Results (A. Moore): Akilah will email the Survey results (combination of Clints previous survey results and the results from the paper surveys from Opening Day). 12. Enrollment Management, Program Discontinuance (A. Moore): Enrollment Management: The Enrollment Management town hall was philosophical asking for more direct suggestions at the end. The next meeting may have more direct information. There was not enough data for faculty to draw conclusions. There were big cuts made to the English and Math departments. The intent behind the meeting is to try and get a sense of which direction the faculty would like to go and to help shape the new vision. The Senate should ask managements: Where are we now? Where have we been historically (before budget cuts)? What are the historical benchmarks? Data should be provided to the whole faculty. Program Discontinuance: There were some conversations about cutting summer school. When summer school was cut in the past, it didnt achieve the results that were intended (saving money). Rotating summer school at each campus could be an option. There is a philosophical side and a business side to the decisions being made. We need to know the wants of the college/district on both sides. The school district should be looking at global trends in the job market. The faculty should lobby for public education reverse the trend of the public. Lobby the public to vote for the parcel tax and Prop. 30. As a faculty we should help guide the discussion asking for data and asking questions: What percent of the revenue comes from what areas? What is the organizational structure? What level are the students coming into the college? November 7th is the next town hall. Senators need to ask constituencies for feedback and to figure out what data is needed to make a rational decision. 13. BP 5033 Budget Development (A. Moore): Senators are asked to read the policy and get feedback from their constituencies. Akilah will forward DGC numbers (updated budget report specifically the reserves and how they will be used). 14. Ӱɴý Leadership Setting the Tone (A. Moore): Tabled. Add to the next agenda 14. Adjournment (A. Moore): The meeting was adjourned at 4:47 pm.
