Academic Senate is still in need of Vice President and 1 Graduation Names Faculty Reader for May 20th. Email M. Lewis if interested. - M. Lewis will attend virtual ASCCC Spring 2022 Plenary on Thursdays, April 7th. ASCCC Plenary is a statewide meeting of all the Community Colleges Academic Senate Presidents in the state to vote on resolutions to send to the State Legislature. M. Lewis highlighted AB-1705; a companion piece to AB-705: about placing incoming students in community college level English or Math courses; if placing a student below transfer level, you have to have a good reason, show evidence, and students should have an option to lower level English and Math courses. AB-705 has passed and AB-1705 has not passed and still in process. ASCCCs plan is to incorporate this into Title 5 and not into law. N. Hannum shared intent for this is to make sure well advertise options for students and not necessarily eliminate pretransfer courses. Work Plan Group completed assessment form to ensure compliance for FA22 and it was recommended for all to look at other colleges data.5.Communications and Questions (M. Lewis): b) College Administration: SEM 2.0 Update - N. Hannum shared this is an application to receive professional coaching from the RP Group; how to develop success teams and piloted last year Arts and Humanities. Were recruiting a team of 10 to be part of initial team; it requires in person conference in June, virtual site visits and monthly check-in with our coaches as we work toward our goals and deliverables. The goal for this is how we support students using success team models and to work with coaches that worked with other colleges; our application was accepted. c) Committee Update: SGC has been in discussions regarding Brentwood budget for student services support staff for 2022-2023, deferring budget would mean no spaces or services will be available for students for an entire school year. President B. Kratochvil put together a team to work over Spring break, attendees were J. Saito, N. Hannum, L. Velasquez (ӰɴýAS), and B. Stone. The group came up with a revised proposal, J. Saito will be sending it out tomorrow and asked if Senators would like to be on the list to receive the revised proposal to send her an email. Faculty voiced out how important these services are for Brentwood campus. The proposal consists of hourly funds for library services, administrative services for the center, and the budget for support staff will be revisited for one year to assess students needs. N. Hannum confirmed that the Brentwood campus is considered a center with over 1K FTES and M. Lewis shared how important to have faculty voices on SGC. - PSLO is in year five cycle of doing assessment, M. Lapriore encouraged all to make sure someone is attending those meetings to represent their department. The group meets on Fridays, however M. Lapriore is available anytime, to meet anyone via Zoom or in person. Also, if your department receives an email on outstanding assessments from previous cohorts, its important to complete them before the new cycle starts. - CC is looking into guiding instructions for faculty around course outlines, revisions, template on eLumen and approving certificates phase two. M. Lynn shared CC will be discussing a separate CTE Rep in CCs Position Paper; feedback was requested. Variable flex email will be out soon. 6.Consent Calendar: Motion to approve Consent Calendar as listed: Approved (M/S; M. Lapriore/K. Simone shared the introduction of first semester adopting the new GE model on assessment included in the narrative and results of survey sent out during Spring 2020; both links for Assessment 2018 and Survey 2020 were provided. Various key recommendations data tracking, report content, and GE SLO mapping were also included in the report and explained by A. Simone. - A concern of GE duplicating the work was expressed and asked if GE could discuss and design a much simpler way to do assessment; what scope of work needs to be done by GE globally? It was suggested to get the data of how many students are declaring the local GE. b) Ethnic Studies Department Task Force Report: A. Simone shared Ethnic Studies and Social Justice Department Proposal; Ethnic Studies local degree, Ethnic Studies ADT (Ethnic Studies, Black Studies/African American Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American Studies, and Chicana/o/Latina/o Studies), Social Justice Studies (African American Studies, Chicana/o Studies and LGBTQ Studies, Current offering courses, Under Dean Aprill Nogarr, justification for the department with laws being approved, additional research and other positive impact on majors.8.First Reading: (M. It was explained that some courses on the degree were not up-to-date and the task force will work on updating the courses from R. Halls list. - The task force via Academic Senate is being created due to Liberal Arts not having its own department and crosses different departments. The college was informed in 2009 to change the degrees and it was worked on by Richard Livingston at the District in Spring 2013. - N. Hannum shared to possibly incorporate this to SEM; currently has Curriculum Analysis Group and its a good time to do clean up on degrees. - Motion to waive First Read to go into Second Read for approval Approved (M/S; J. Von Bergen/J. Clark) Unanimous, 11 Votes - It was clarified Academic Senate votes to form and participate in the task force, the task force can also include managers and classified. - Motion to approve the creation of Liberal Arts Degree Task Force Approved (M/S; J.
